After many months of hiking and meeting clients outdoors, we have returned fully to in-person groups! We continue to supplement client care with telehealth platforms and live or online individual and family therapy as well as sober coaching services.

Young adults in recovery or seeking recovery from alcohol, drug, and mental health issues require specialized care from staff well-trained in dual-diagnosis along with receiving social support from peers. This is an evening program for young adults (age 18–25) who have substance abuse, mood disorders, and/or co-occurring problems. The Young Adult Group (YAG) Program provides support for young adults and college students with mental health issues that have interfered with independent living, college life, or who may be struggling to remain sober while in college. This program also provides support for young people who are in transition after experiencing academic or behavioral problems in college.

The YAG Program offers:

  • Extensive evaluation services with onsite, accurate drug screening
  • Group therapy two times per week
    • Monday’s 5:00 pm-7:30 pm
    • Wednesday’s 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
  • Supplemental recovery support meetings, speakers, and wellness activities
  • Individual and family counseling as needed
  • Referral to community-based A.A. and N.A. meetings and an onsite Young People’s A.A. meeting on Mondays at 7:00 pm

Young adults may also attend YAG Program for group sessions and substance abuse counseling while maintaining their individual relationships with referring therapists and psychiatrists.

Sara Scott, LPC, LADC, and Nina Leventon, LMSW are the co-leaders of the program with Liz Jorgensen as assistant and supervisor. All staff maintains text, phone, and online contact with group members between sessions.

Nina Leventon and Sara Scott will also be providing sober coaching to clients who require additional support in between-group program hours. This access is key to helping people in early recovery.

Each family and young adult will be given an individualized treatment plan that may also include medical services, referral for Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with our physician Vicki Sara Blumberg MD, and more. In addition, Naturopathic Physician Veena Verma-Dzik ND is available for consultations for medical issues that may be contributing to emotional symptoms as well as for overall health concerns.

All Insight Counseling staff will also team with outside physicians, therapists, and other providers to make a seamless and efficient team approach for every client and their family members.

Please contact Insight Counseling, LLC for further information about this program and additional family services at 203-431-9726 or email [email protected]

“I came to YAG for my mother, and I fought the help and didn’t listen at first. It’s been 12 weeks and I am sober with no panic attacks, and I really feel better. The staff is great, and I get so much out of the other clients too I didn’t think that would be possible.”
