Kathleen Maloney, NCC, LPC is a Nationally Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor with many years of experience in the mental health and school counseling fields, serving children, adolescents, adults, and families. Kathleen is a highly-skilled, compassionate therapist dedicated to providing exceptional care for adolescents and adults. Kathleen has worked in a variety of settings from K-12 schools to outpatient behavioral health offices working with clients who struggle with issues relating to Anxiety/Depression, Motivation, Avoidance, Eating Disorders, Trauma, Stress, Substance Abuse, and relationship issues. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an evidence-based treatment that has been proven to be effective to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. It can be beneficial for both adults and children because its efficacy does not require mastery of language.
Kathleen is also an outstanding motivator, who is accepting and non-judgmental of all clients suffering. She has a strong history of success working in individual and group settings and has the innate ability to establish rapport and build trust with respect and integrity. Kathleen believes that all people are inherently resilient with the ability to thrive, given the appropriate support and environment. Clients often see a reduction in symptoms and improved well-being early on in treatment.
Kathleen is a member of the National Association of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists, the American Counseling Association, the National Board for Certified Counselors, the National School Counseling Association, Connecticut School Counseling Association, National Association for College Admissions Counseling, Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling, Associate for Specialists in Group Work and the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities
Prior to becoming a counselor, Kathleen had a long and successful career in the financial services industry. These experiences give her the unique understanding of managing high stress environments, and the mind body connection between daily life and emotional well-being.
Kathleen co-leads the Recovery Support Program (RSP Group) for adolescents.by
