Pamela Walker is an energetic and engaging therapist with over 28 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults and adults. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities where the modalities focus on dual diagnosis. “In my early training, I learned that treating the addiction along with the emotionality increased the success of recovery. I have continued to integrate these principals in my work today.” For the last 17 year she has worked in school settings providing assessments, education and support to students, their parents and the faculty as a whole. She also provides groups in the school setting on topics like early recovery, DBT skills to help reduce anxiety, didactic groups about addiction, stress management and social skills. She has an expertise in engaging resistant children, teens and young adults. She incorporates CBT and DBT skills as well as the use of expressive art therapy. “I believe in an eclectic proactive approach.”
She has co-lead the Young Adult Group and presently co-leads the Recovery Support Program (RSP) for adolescents. She has a passion for incorporating therapeutic wilderness/experiential therapies into her work at Insight and has organized experiential programming such as rock climbing, canoeing and kayaking, and hiking. Pam provides official assessments as well as individual, family and group therapy.
